Treatment for Dementia Patients

What is Dementia?

A chronic or persistent disorder of the mental processes caused by brain disease or injury and marked by the memory disorders.  There are over 100 diseases that can cause dementia.

The different types of dementia can't be cured but doctors or specialists will help you to manage your symptoms. Treatment of the dementia symptoms may helps to slow or minimise the development of symptoms.

Treatment of Dementia

Cholinesterase inhibitors - This is the medication have to take who suffered from Dimentia. These medications — including donepezil (Aricept), rivastigmine (Exelon) and galantamine (Razadyne) — Its will work by increasing the levels of a chemical messenger involved in memory. 

Side effects may include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.


Memantine. Memantine (Namenda) works by regulating the activity of glutamate. Glutamate is another chemical messenger involved in brain functions, such as learning and memory. A common side effect of Memantine is dizziness.
Occupational therapy -  Occupational therapy to help you adjust to living with dementia. Therapists teach you to coping behaviours and other things.
